What do you think is the best product on the market today for twenty/thirty-somethings that are just starting to get their finances in order?

I believe all or most people in their twenties or thirties should be thinking of making their money work for them now and in the future. They should consider a B2I (Borrow to Invest). With everything getting increasingly more and more expensive, this is one of the only few ways to get your savings to catch up!

Why do you need a financial planner?

It is like anything, you will always be more effective if you enlist an expert to help guide you on a successful path.  If you want to get fit, you hire a personal trainer and so it makes sense that if you need help with your finances, you get a financial planner to help you succeed in the shortest and most efficient way possible. It has also been proven that people with financial planners save more and accumulate more assets.

What are your top five tips for better money management?

  1. Set financial goals
  2. Pay yourself first
  3. Be conscious of where your money is being spent and set priorities
  4. Save and invest early, it's never too early to start
  5. Understand yourself as an investor and the risks you are willing to take to reap the rewards you want.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...or? What are you using and why?

I would have to say Facebook. All of my friends and clients use it and it's great way to keep in touch and see what they're up to.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?

  1. Take our corporate giving program, mission of care™ to the next level
  2. Go on a three month long world tour
  3. Learn how to surf

What is your proudest giving moment?

Whenever I go to the convenience store and I see someone begging for change, I make sure to buy them a sandwich. They are always so appreciative and it's one of the best giving experiences you can have.

Why did you choose a career in the financial industry?

In University, I majored in Finance and I immediately knew it was the right career path for me. I have found this industry to be a lot of fun but also a great way to help people. I am also challenged everyday as there is always something new to learn about. I enjoy educating my friends about financial knowledge and am inspired by the amazing group of people that I work with.

What’s the biggest financial obstacle facing Gen Y today?

This generation tends to want to enjoy a good lifestyle, but ignores the fact that they need to plan now for their financial future. Most of them spend first and save later, while it should be the other way around - save, then spend, and always save smartly.

Why is planning for the future important?

As we get older, we tend to take on more responsibilities that could impact ourselves or our family. Financial stress can cause a number of problems so it is always important to plan ahead. By protecting yourself and your finances now, you will alleviate the burden of financial issues in the future.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...or? What are you using and why?

I use Facebook and Instagram to see what is happening amongst my friends. I love seeing all their beautiful and funny pictures.

If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose and why?

If I could have one superpower, it would be the ability to make each person’s biggest wish come true. That could be to help find love, create better relationships with others, to get healthy. Anything that will truly make them happy.

What is your proudest giving moment?

I volunteered to work with a child with mental disabilities. During the time I spent with him, I helped him with his studies and built his confidence. He began to realize that when you do your best, anything is possible

What do you think is Gen Y’s biggest misconception about life insurance?

Millennials believe that since they are young and have many years ahead of them, they do not need life insurance now. What they don’t realize is that insurance helps protect goals and dreams and there is tremendous value in locking in at a young age to ensure lower premiums.

Why is life insurance important?

It's the most tax efficient tool for long term growth and planning your estate. It's the best coverage you can have when unexpected events happen.

What are the best benefit plans for millennials?

Everybody’s situation is unique. The best plans always are the ones tailored to the clients’ specific goals and needs.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...or? What are you using and why?

Facebook, really to connect with old friends.
Instagram, see great photo posts of others.
LinkedIn, connection for business.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Oooh....tough one....but I would have to pick Bora Bora in French Polynesia.

What is your proudest giving moment?

I guess it's really any moment that I feel I have made a difference in someone else’s life. It's hard to name any particular moment when each one has been special in its own way.
